When people say socialism doesn't work, they dont mean you cant create a socialist state. What they mean is that, basically every time someone has, its killed millions.

Socialism isn't a thing. It's like, fifty things in a junk drawer. It only refers to the means of production being socially owned. How that social ownership happens, what form it takes, and to what extent it is prevalent in a culture, these things are unspecified. Around here there's a chain of "employee-owned" grocery stores. They are, technically, an example of functioning socialism, right here in the US. Communism, on the other hand, where the government controls everything? That doesn't work. That's why China has switched to a hybrid economy... And I'm not convinced that something like that isn't the best economic system to balance growth and stability.

Imaging complaining about the government taking your money and using it for things you don't agree with and then advocating for Communism/socialism in the same conversation. The government is not your friend and never will be. People who crave money and control naturally gravitate to leadership positions, therefore their natural inclination is corruption in favor of more money and power. Once you understand that the government exists to control you and not to help you, you'll finally cross that threshold. Authoritarianism is bad in all forms. Fascism, Communism, Socialism, all feathers on the authoritarian bird.

I live in Canada, and there are those who might say "Stay in your own lane"..."Mind your own business"..."What's it to you"? The first time I heard that school children in the U.S. were having "Active shooter drills" my stomach flip flopped. I'd heard of earthquake drills, fire drills, but an active shooter drill? I can't imagine what goes through the head of a 6 year old, while hiding under a desk, praying the shooter won't find them! It doesn't bear thinking about! There's simply no rationality to it! I can't believe bump stocks are allowed again! Let's make it easier to take as many people out as possible in as short a period of time as possible! We have strict gun laws in 🇨🇦, we have background checks, certain types of guns are illegal, but we have still had a few mass shootings over the years, & gangs shooting up areas of Vancouver are a problem at the moment, but for the most part, thank goodness, they are few & far between. Is it possible to amend part of your Constitution? Why not institute background checks & waiting periods? When there is a waiting period to own a pet, get married, or drive a car, but not to own a weapon of mass destruction, it would appear to me to pose a problem.
